We visited several consulting services in Gangnam, but something still did not feel right about signing a contract immediately. While putting off the decision, we attended teacher Park Jong-gyeong's information session and started math lessons right away. Since then, we have continued to receive guidance that feels both like consulting and unlike consulting. * Why it is not consulting 1. We have never paid a consultation or consulting fee, despite having an enormous number of conversations with the teacher. Like other Ziqzi Academy students, all we have paid is the regular tuition for classes such as math, economics, and statistics. 2. The teacher recommended classes our child needed right away and classes to prepare for future activities, but never pressured us to enroll. * Why it is consulting 1. As soon as the Grade 11 AP exams ended, the teacher met separately with our child to choose colleges to apply to. The advice went beyond choosing schools: it covered which major to apply for at each school and how to approach each college's essays. The reason to choose colleges and majors before Grade 12 is that students need to develop their extracurricular activities during the summer after Grade 11 so they can use those experiences in their application essays. Teacher Park Jong-gyeong emphasized how important this was throughout all three years. 2. For our child, whose strengths beyond studying diligently were not immediately obvious, Ziqzi Academy's teachers suggested the theme <Academic Spark>. Fortunately, over the past four years, what our child learned in Ziqzi Academy classes led to awards in multiple economics writing competitions and a paper published through a reputable academic society, helping develop academic potential.

Hello. I am currently in Grade 12 and will be attending a U.S. university after graduation. Five years ago, I transferred from a Korean public school to Grade 8 at an international school and first joined teacher Park Jong-gyeong's math classes at Ziqzi Academy. Until then, I had only attended academies focused on the Korean curriculum, so I did not understand the American curriculum or the IB/AP systems. Meeting Ziqzi at that point was a major turning point for me. At the time, teacher Park Jong-gyeong taught every class personally. He understood each student deeply and provided a personalized pace and learning strategy. Many of my international-school friends had private tutors during the semester and attended academies in Apgujeong during vacations. In my experience, tutors varied greatly in ability, while vacation classes often crammed one or two years of material into a short period. Many friends struggled to keep up and ended up stressed. When a student's individual ability and situation are not considered, I think it can ultimately waste both time and money. Ziqzi's classes, on the other hand, really deserved the description “tailored to the student.” For me, teacher Park Jong-gyeong created a specific roadmap toward Ivy League admission and clearly explained which subjects to study, when, and how. In math, I followed this sequence: • Geometry (a short intensive course during the Grade 8 winter vacation) • Algebra II • Precalculus • AP Calculus AB/BC • Linear Algebra & Differential Equations I did not race through material ahead of schedule, but building a solid foundation as I progressed helped me consistently maintain a high GPA, earn 5s in all my AP math subjects, and complete SAT math without difficulty. I remember something the teacher always emphasized: “If your goal is a top 10 U.S. university, ideally you should finish calculus by the end of Grade 9.” This was not simply about rushing ahead. It meant designing a path in advance to understand advanced mathematical concepts and connect them to research later. I was then able to expand into linear algebra, differential equations, and math-based research experiences, which I believe contributed to my admissions results. (Accepted by several top 10 U.S. universities.) Finally, here is what I would like to tell younger students. In addition to regular classes, Ziqzi Academy frequently provides free supplementary lessons and problem-solving sessions. This is an opportunity you do not often find at other academies. Please make the most of it. Are you finding it hard to keep up with math? Of course you are. I did too. If you think, “Why am I the only one who does not understand? Everyone else is doing so well…,” it does not mean you are incapable. You may simply need more review or have missed a chance to ask a question. Math can be confusing, hard to organize in your head, and something that only clicks later with an “Oh, now I get it!” So do not be intimidated. Use Ziqzi's problem-solving sessions to ask questions and work things out. (This is getting long. Really, one last thing.) I still vividly remember what the teacher said when my mother and I visited Ziqzi for a consultation just after I entered high school: “You are going to get scolded a lot while you study with me in Grades 9 and 10. Why? Because of those careless mistakes. But over those two years, you will learn to reduce them. In Grade 11, your ability will improve noticeably, and in Grade 12, you will see success.” Just as teacher Park Jong-gyeong said, I learned to reduce my mistakes while receiving his stern scoldings, abundant affection, and even lavish gifts. In the end, I was accepted by the universities I had aimed for. Thank you, younger students, for reading this long story. By the way, on days when I could not focus in class, teacher Park Jong-gyeong would call my mother as soon as class ended... I would promptly be seated in the “chair of truth” for a lesson in discipline—or, as the Korean wordplay goes, a lesson in endurance. Thanks to that, both my math skills and my mental resilience improved. (Thank you, Mom.) …That is how, through math, I learned about life first.
